Fidya

Fidya is a mercy from Allah SWT for those who are genuinely unable to fast due to illness, old age, pregnancy, or another valid reason. It allows you to fulfil your obligation by feeding someone in need for every fast you are unable to keep. Across Gaza, thousands of families continue to face severe food insecurity, struggling to access even the most basic meals. Giving Hands is delivering food directly to vulnerable families, ensuring your Fidya becomes immediate relief for those who need it most. Fulfil your Fidya today.

Frequently asked questions

How can I be sure my Fidyah reaches those in need?

Giving Hands operates with a 100% donation policy and distributes food through its own teams without middlemen. All Fidyah donations are used exclusively to provide food to people facing severe hardship in Gaza.

How do I calculate how much Fidyah I need to give?

Fidyah is calculated per missed fast. Simply multiply $11 by the number of fasts you were unable to keep. For example, 10 missed fasts would require $111 in Fidyah.

How is Fidyah fulfilled through this campaign?

Each $11 Fidyah provides food equivalent to one day’s meals for one person. Giving Hands distributes food directly to families in Gaza through trusted teams on the ground, ensuring your obligation is fulfilled correctly and with dignity.

Who is required to pay Fidyah?

Fidyah applies to those who cannot fast and are not required to make up the missed fasts later, such as the elderly or those with long-term illness. If fasting can be made up at a later date, Qada (making up the fast) is required instead of Fidyah.

What is Fidyah?

Fidyah is a compensation paid when a person is unable to fast during Ramadan due to a valid reason such as chronic illness, old age, or a condition with no expectation of recovery. It is fulfilled by feeding one person in need for each missed fast.
